Notifications Restrictions

Effective Date: 01-03-2025

SMS Character Limit

info

Please keep in mind that dynamic placeholders (e.g., {name}, {services}, {address}) can influence the overall message length based on the actual values used.

warning

You will be charged for each segment sent. Longer messages will therefore cost more, so it's best to keep messages concise.

A single SMS can contain up to 160 characters if using standard characters. If your message contains special characters (like emojis or certain languages), the limit is reduced to 70 characters.

Messages longer than 160 characters will be split into segments for sending. Each segment can have a maximum of 153 characters. For example, a 161-character message will be sent as two segments: one with 153 characters and another with 8 characters.

In the United States and Canada, multi-segment SMS messages have specific limits: 152 characters per segment for standard messages, and 66 characters per segment for messages that contain special characters.

Messages with special characters need to be sent in a different format, reducing the number of characters you can use. For instance, longer messages with special characters will be split into 67-character segments.

The maximum length for an SMS message can be up to 1,600 characters.
